How do I become a vendor on the Wales Student Market?
One of the requirements of the Wales Student Market is that you must have your own website or selling platform (such as Etsy, Shopify, eBay Shop etc)
Your site must be able to take orders and process payments.
You must ensure you have appropriate images of your products that will not offend.
You must provide a description of up to 150 words of your business in both English and Welsh.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the goods you sell conform to the standards endorsed by the:
Office of Fair Trading and local Trading Standards Officers
The Distance Selling Regulations
The Distance Selling Food Standards
You are responsible for the customer service, order processing and payment schedule of your business. We recommend you use Paypal or Stripe to process your payments as these are trusted online payment processors
You are responsible for the tax implications of your business turnover and revenue and you will also need Public Liability Insurance before selling any goods.
Who can list on the Wales Student Market?
- Any current student graduate of the associated Further Education Colleges or Universities.
- Any student that graduated within the past 3 years from the associated Further Education Colleges or Universities.
- Any student wanting to test their business idea for a short period of time between 4-8 weeks.
- Any student business where there is more than one owner. There will however need to be 1 lead owner of the listing that admin will communicate with.
I don’t know how to set up my website. Can you help?
Each institution has their own Enterprise champion that can help you prepare for test trading. You will need to contact your own Enterprise Champion to help with this.
How long will my business be featured on the Wales Student Market?
Listings on the Wales Student Market will be live for up to two years after graduation. You may submit a request to extend or decrease this time as you see fit. The Wales Student Market will be monitored regularly and any links that are inactive or create an error message will be removed from the site.
I submitted my details on the sign up form but I can’t see my business?
Each institution will approve the listing before submitting to the Wales Student Market admin team. It can take up to 72 hours before your business goes “live” on the Wales Student Market. Any errors or missing information will result in delay or the listing not being approved by the Wales Student Market admin team.
Will the Wales Student Market admin team deal with my customer service?
The responsibility of order processing, payment processing and customer service is the responsibility of the vendor. Cardiff Metropolitan University or any of the further education colleges, institutions or Universities take no responsibility for the contract made between seller and the customer.
